Discover Berlin: A paradise for foodies and solo travelers

If you're a solo traveler and/or a foodie, Berlin is calling your name. This vibrant city, full of history, culture, and incredible eats, is the perfect destination for anyone looking to explore new flavors and make new friends.

Here’s your ultimate guide to making the most out of your solo adventure in this dynamic city. Keep reading to figure out where to stay, get the hot spots for food and activities, and dont miss out on this sunday funday experience!

At the bottom of this post you will also find the link for my Berlin Google Map with almost 50 spots saved for you to check out!

Stay in Style with The Circus Chain (sponsored partnership)

First things first: where to stay. The Circus Group is a fantastic option, offering accommodations to suit all budgets and styles. I partnered with them for my recent stay in Berlin, and I was extremely happy with it!

Choose from their hostel, hotel, or long-term apartments, all centrally located and close to some of the best food spots in town. I tried them all and can definitely approve.

The friendly atmosphere at The Circus makes it easy to meet fellow travelers, and their commitment to quality ensures you’ll have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The apartments (The Circus Living) is located next to Holzmarkt, a really cool spot packed with food and drink options by the riverside. A perfect place for a sundowner:

The apartment building also offers a cafe and a co-working space, and this beautiful rooftop terrace for its residents, with a spectacular view of Berlin and the coziest couches.

The Circus Hostel has dorms, double rooms and huge apartments fitting up to 5 people and with panoramic views, this is really the most impressive hostel I have ever seen! It is located smack in the center of all things food in Mitte - here you have walking distance to all the cuisines in the world.

The Circus Hotel is right across the road from the hostel and has a very nice vibe. They have a bar, a green backyard, and the comfiest beds you will ever sleep in. Also loved that the room is quiet, and the curtains make it pitch dark! I recommend trying the breakfast at least one of your days here.

Just a 15 minute walk from the hotel you find Mauerpark:

Sunday Funday at Mauerpark

One of the highlights of a Berlin trip is spending a Sunday at Mauerpark. This sprawling park transforms into a lively hub of activity with its famous flea market, live music, and street performers. Grab a bite from one of the many food stalls offering everything from traditional German sausages to international street food. I had a vegan banh mi at Meo Meos Kitchen and it was excellent!

Don’t miss the Bearpit Karaoke, where brave souls (and supportive crowds) gather for an afternoon of unforgettable performances. We also saw people taking salsa lessons, there was DJs, rock bands and also people just chilling in the grass.

Next time I will bring a picnic blanket for sure!

Sip and Savor at Klunkerkranich

When the sun starts to set, head over to Klunkerkranich, a hidden gem perched atop a parking garage. This rooftop bar offers stunning views of the city skyline, making it the perfect spot for a drink and some evening relaxation.

The atmosphere is laid-back and cool, with live music and a mix of locals and travelers enjoying the unique vibe. It’s an ideal place to unwind after a day of exploration and make some new friends over a cold beer or cocktail.

A Culinary Adventure Awaits

Berlin's food scene is nothing short of amazing. The city is a melting pot of cultures, and this diversity is reflected in its culinary offerings. From vegan pastries to the best kebabs, there’s something to satisfy everyone. One of the best ways to dive into Berlin’s food culture is by joining a food tour, I did one through Airbnb. These tours are a great way to sample a variety of dishes, learn about the city’s food history, and meet other solo travelers. You’ll get to try local favorites like currywurst, vegan delicacies, and perhaps even the city’s top-rated kebab.

Café Culture

Berlin is also known for its excellent café culture. Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to read a book or a lively café to people-watch, you’ll find it here. Many cafés offer a range of delicious pastries, artisan coffees, and hearty brunch options. Some popular spots include The Barn for its exceptional coffee, and Silo Coffee, known for its amazing brunch and welcoming atmosphere. Also stop by Bonanza coffee roasters! More spots to be found in my Google map linked at the bottom.

PS! If you're into cardamom buns, check out the one at Acid in Mitte.

Berlin is truly a solo traveler’s paradise, offering endless opportunities to explore, eat, and meet new people. What I personally love about Berlin is that you can really be yourself here. People are real, open minded and respectful towards everyone. So pack your bags, book your stay at The Circus, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure in one of Europe’s most exciting cities.

Happy travels!
